Terra began in 2011 when we took on a tired field and spent three years getting the soil to behave.
We are not a large operation and we have no plans to become one. Forty acres is what two people and a small seasonal team can look after properly without reaching for anything we would rather not use.
Everything is certified organic, but the certificate is the floor rather than the goal. We rotate beds on a seven-year cycle, keep the hens moving across the pasture behind the cattle, and leave the field margins alone so something else can live there too.
